Dehydrated Apple & Carrot Crunchies

One-ingredient (well, two!) snacks that are perfect for dogs on a diet or those who love a satisfying crunch.

Ingredients

  • 2 large Apples (remove all seeds and core completely!)
  • 2 large Carrots
  • A squeeze of Lemon juice (optional, to prevent browning)

Health Notes

Verification

Zero fat and high fiber. Apples provide vitamins A and C, while carrots are great for dental health if they are crunchy enough.

Perfect For

All ages (great for teething puppies too!)

Shiro's Method

1

Slice the apples and carrots as thin as possible (a mandoline slicer is great for this).

2

If using an oven: Preheat to 80°C (175°F). Place slices on a parchment-lined tray.

3

If using a dehydrator: Arrange on trays without overlapping.

4

Bake/Dehydrate for 4-6 hours until they are completely crisp and 'snap' when bent.

5

Let them cool entirely before storing in an airtight jar.

6

Use as a low-calorie reward between meals.

Storage

Keep in a dry, cool place in an airtight container. They stay fresh for up to 2 weeks.

Serving Amount

3-5 slices per day
