Dehydrated Apple & Carrot Crunchies
“One-ingredient (well, two!) snacks that are perfect for dogs on a diet or those who love a satisfying crunch.”
Ingredients
- 2 large Apples (remove all seeds and core completely!)
- 2 large Carrots
- A squeeze of Lemon juice (optional, to prevent browning)
Health Notes
Verification
“Zero fat and high fiber. Apples provide vitamins A and C, while carrots are great for dental health if they are crunchy enough.”
Perfect For
All ages (great for teething puppies too!)
Shiro's Method
Slice the apples and carrots as thin as possible (a mandoline slicer is great for this).
If using an oven: Preheat to 80°C (175°F). Place slices on a parchment-lined tray.
If using a dehydrator: Arrange on trays without overlapping.
Bake/Dehydrate for 4-6 hours until they are completely crisp and 'snap' when bent.
Let them cool entirely before storing in an airtight jar.
Use as a low-calorie reward between meals.
Storage
Keep in a dry, cool place in an airtight container. They stay fresh for up to 2 weeks.
Serving Amount
3-5 slices per day
