Monsoon Digestive Ginger & Rice Kanji
“A warm, easily digestible healing rice porridge designed to soothe sensitive stomachs during humid weather flare-ups.”
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup white Rice (washed thoroughly)
- 3 cups Water or light chicken broth
- 1/8 tsp freshly grated Ginger (peeled)
- 1/4 cup boiled shredded Chicken Breast (or mashed pumpkin for veg)
- Pinch of crushed roasted Cumin powder (jeera)

Shiro's Method
In a pot or pressure cooker, combine washed white rice and water/broth with the grated ginger.
Cook on low heat until the rice breaks down into a soft, creamy porridge (kanji consistency).
Stir in the shredded chicken breast or mashed pumpkin and a tiny pinch of cumin.
Allow to cool to body temperature before serving.
Offer small ladle portions to help rehydrate and settle an irritated digestive tract.
Storage
Refrigerate for up to 48 hours. Add warm water before serving to loosen consistency.
Serving Amount
1/2 cup to 1 cup per meal as a bland recovery diet.
