Shiro's Post-Walk Electrolyte Cooler

A natural, homemade hydration boost for those exhausting humid evenings in India.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Fresh Coconut Water (unsweetened)
  • 1/4 cup Cucumber Juice (freshly squeezed)
  • A tiny pinch of Sea Salt (optional, for extreme heat)
  • 1 tsp Honey (raw, local if possible)

Health Notes

Verification

Coconut water is a natural source of potassium and magnesium. It's much safer than human sports drinks which often contain xylitol or too much sodium.

Perfect For

All ages (especially seniors and active adults)

Shiro's Method

1

Mix the coconut water and cucumber juice in a large bowl. Shiro usually starts doing 'sit-pretty' the moment I crack the coconut.

2

Whisk in the honey until fully dissolved. Honey gives a quick glucose boost after a long walk.

3

If it's over 40°C outside, add the tiny pinch of salt to help with electrolyte balance.

4

Serve at room temperature or slightly chilled, but never ice-cold immediately after a walk to avoid stomach cramps.

5

Watch them lap it up! Shiro finishes this faster than a bowl of chicken.

Storage

Best served immediately. Can be kept in the fridge for up to 6 hours.

Serving Amount

1/2 cup to 1 cup after exercise
