Slow-Braised Chicken Gizzard & Moringa Autumn Warmer
“A nutrient-dense, connective-tissue-rich autumn dinner bowl uniting tender braised chicken gizzards, steamed sweet potato cubes, and immune-charging moringa leaf powder.”
Ingredients
- 250g fresh antibiotic-free chicken gizzards (cleaned and cut into bite-sized quarters)
- 1 medium orange sweet potato (peeled and diced into 1/2 inch cubes)
- 1/2 teaspoon pure organic Indian moringa leaf powder (drumstick tree leaf, rich in bioavailable calcium and iron)
- 1/2 cup slow-simmered bone broth or filtered water for braising
- 1 teaspoon cold-pressed virgin flaxseed oil (unheated, added right before serving for omega-3s)
Health Notes
Verification
“Chicken gizzards are a nutritional powerhouse: almost pure lean muscular protein, packed with natural glucosamine and chondroitin to nourish cooling autumn joints. Slow-braising breaks down collagen fibers for easy digestion, while moringa provides 14 times more calcium than milk to support bone density as temperatures drop.”
Perfect For
Adult dogs and seniors. Ideal for dogs needing joint cartilage building blocks and immune support.
Shiro's Method
Rinse the chicken gizzards thoroughly in cold water to remove any lingering grit.
Place the gizzard pieces into a heavy-bottomed pot, add 1/2 cup of bone broth or filtered water, and cover tightly with a lid.
Bring to a gentle simmer over low flame and slow-braise for 30 minutes until the tough cartilage breaks down into tender, chewable morsels.
Add the diced sweet potatoes into the pot directly over the braised gizzards, cover again, and steam for an additional 10 minutes until sweet potatoes are fork-tender.
Turn off the heat and let the mixture cool in the pot until pleasantly lukewarm (around body temperature).
Dust the vibrant green moringa leaf powder evenly across the dish and drizzle the cold-pressed flaxseed oil over the top.
Toss gently with a spoon to coat every piece evenly before serving as an evening meal topper or complete warm dinner bowl.
Storage
Refrigerate in an airtight glass container for up to 3 days, or freeze single portions for up to 6 weeks.
Serving Amount
1/3 cup as a topper over regular meals for medium dogs; 1/2 to 3/4 cup as a rich dinner feast for large dogs.
