Steamed White Pomfret & Pumpkin Omega Tummy Bowl
“A gentle, hypoallergenic meal topper uniting steamed coastal white fish with sweet pumpkin purée to soothe reactive late-monsoon digestive flare-ups.”
Ingredients
- 120g fresh white pomfret fillet (completely deboned, skin on for natural marine collagen)
- 1 cup sweet pumpkin (peeled, deseeded, and cut into bite-sized cubes)
- 1/4 cup boiled white basmati rice (starchy, soft, and easy on an inflamed colon)
- 1/2 teaspoon unrefined cold-pressed flaxseed oil
- 1 tablespoon finely chopped fresh coriander leaves (natural gentle chelator and digestion aid)
Health Notes
Verification
“High humidity frequently slows gastrointestinal motility in apartment dogs, leaving them prone to acid reflux and soft stools. White pomfret offers an ultra-clean, easily digestible novel marine protein with virtually zero inflammatory saturated fat. Pumpkin delivers both soluble fiber to firm up stools and prebiotic food for beneficial gut flora.”
Perfect For
All life stages (ideal for convalescing dogs, seniors, and puppies over 12 weeks)
Shiro's Method
Inspect the fish fillet meticulously with clean fingers, feeling across every millimeter to confirm there are absolutely no pin bones remaining.
Place the pumpkin cubes and pomfret fillet into a bamboo or stainless steel steamer basket over simmering water.
Steam covered for 10 to 12 minutes until the pumpkin is fork-tender and the fish turns opaque and flaky.
Transfer both the fish and pumpkin to a ceramic prep bowl. Mash thoroughly using a potato masher, blending the natural fish juices directly into the pumpkin flesh.
Gently stir in the warm boiled rice, fresh coriander, and cold-pressed flaxseed oil.
Allow the bowl to cool completely to room temperature before serving as a standalone recovery lunch or as a warm topper over kibble.
Storage
Refrigerate in a sealed glass container for up to 48 hours. Not recommended for freezing once assembled with fresh fish.
Serving Amount
Offer 3 to 4 tablespoons as a topper for large dogs, or 1 to 2 tablespoons for smaller breeds.
