Shiro's Autumn Lung-Cleanse Golden Ginger & Tulsi Honey Broth

“A deeply soothing, warm botanical bone broth infusion uniting holy basil (tulsi), microscopic shavings of fresh ginger, raw turmeric, and marine collagen to clear smog-irritated airways.”

Ingredients

  • 3 cups slow-simmered unsalted chicken or beef bone broth
  • 6 to 8 fresh Indian holy basil leaves (tulsi, thoroughly rinsed under running water)
  • 1/4 inch fresh raw ginger root (peeled and micro-grated into paper-thin shavings)
  • 1 inch fresh raw turmeric root (kachi haldi, peeled and finely grated)
  • 1/2 teaspoon cold-pressed virgin coconut oil (healthy fats to dissolve fat-soluble curcumin)
  • 1/4 teaspoon raw unpasteurized honey (soothes dry mucosal throat linings)

Health Notes

Verification

“Tulsi (Ocimum sanctum) contains powerful natural bioflavonoids that protect mucosal lung tissue from particulate soot inflammation, while microscopic amounts of fresh ginger act as a gentle bronchodilator to clear phlegm. Raw honey coats smog-irritated canine vocal cords, reducing dry post-walk hacking.”

Perfect For

Dogs aged 6 months and older. Use ginger very conservatively as specified.

Shiro's Method

1

Bring the pre-made bone broth to a gentle simmer in a small stainless steel saucepan over low flame.

2

Add the micro-grated raw ginger root and fresh turmeric to the simmering broth.

3

Cover tightly and allow the botanicals to steep on the lowest flame for 15 minutes, allowing gingerols and curcumin to infuse without boiling off active volatile oils.

4

Turn off the heat and drop in the fresh tulsi leaves and virgin coconut oil. Let steep covered for another 10 minutes until aromatic.

5

Strain the broth through a fine-mesh tea sieve into a glass measuring cup, discarding the cooked ginger and turmeric fiber.

6

Stir in the 1/4 teaspoon of raw honey only after the broth has cooled down to lukewarm drinking temperature (around 38 degrees Celsius) to preserve delicate honey enzymes.

7

Pour 1/4 to 1/2 cup warm over evening kibble or serve as a standalone hydration bowl following outdoor walks.

Storage

Keeps refrigerated in a clean glass Mason jar for up to 4 days. Can be frozen in silicone ice cube trays for up to 2 months.

Serving Amount

2 to 3 tablespoons for small-to-medium dogs; 1/3 to 1/2 cup for large breeds like Golden Retrievers.
