Daily Routine Tip

Dry kibble holds almost no water. Try mixing in warm water or pet-safe bone broth to ease digestion and boost hydration.

Climate Precaution

High summer temperatures in India make water heat up quickly on balconies or floors. Place water bowls in shaded, tiled areas, and add ice cubes on hot afternoons.

Dehydration Test

Skin Tent Test: Gently pinch the loose skin behind your dog's neck. If hydrated, it will snap back instantly. If it stays tented or returns slowly, your dog needs water immediately.

Signs of Distress

Watch out for sticky or dry pale gums, thick saliva, dry nose, sunken eyes, or excessive lethargy. These are red alerts for dehydration. Contact your veterinarian.

Tips to Encourage Drinking

Add flavor: Add a tablespoon of unsalted chicken or bone broth (made without onion or garlic) to their water bowl. Shiro loves this on hot afternoons.

Try multiple bowls: Place water stations in their favorite sleeping spots. Ensure bowls are stainless steel or ceramic, as plastic bowls trap odors and bacteria.

Keep it cool: Change the water at least twice a day. Dogs prefer cool, fresh water over stagnant, room-temperature bowls.
