Monsoon Survival Guide
“Managing messy paws, thunder fears, and apartment dampness with Shiro.”
The monsoon routine
Consistency is the key to comfort. We adjust Shiro's daily timeline to match the daylight and temperature changes. It's about small tweaks for big comfort.
Check paws for dampness after every single walk (The 3-Towel routine)
Get the underbelly and tail really dry (those itchy hotspots are the worst during rain)
Balcony drying hack: Use a dedicated rack for damp towels and gear
Keep a dedicated 'muddy towel' by the door for emergencies
Weather Safety
- •Avoid walks during heavy lightning; Shiro prefers pacing the hallway until it stops
- •Check for ticks more frequently (Peak tick season in India is monsoon—we find them even on paws)
- •Watch for humid heat. High humidity can make Shiro lose interest in water, even when he needs it
Home Cleanup
- •Microfiber door mat rotation (Keep 3 sets near the entry—one is always drying)
- •Damp-fur brushing setup (Crucial for preventing that 'wet dog' smell in the flat)
- •Tile floor safety: Wipe spills immediately; wet paws on marble are a recipe for a sliding Golden
Hydration: The Shiro Strategy
Monsoon humidity hides thirst; Shiro sometimes forgets to drink, so we keep the bowl fresh
Add a splash of curd to water if they aren't drinking enough
