Seasonal Care

The Summer Survival Guide

Beating the heat with smart hydration and shifting our walk times to dawn.

Daily Schedule

The summer routine

Consistency is the key to comfort. We adjust Shiro's daily timeline to match the daylight and temperature changes. It's about small tweaks for big comfort.

Walk only before 7:00 AM or after 8:00 PM (Those Indian summer hours are brutal for heavy coats)

Check the pavement with the back of your hand (The 7-second rule—if it's hot for you, it's hot for them)

Cool-tile rest periods: Apartments with marble or tile are a Golden's best friend during April/May

Weather Safety

  • Watch for heavy panting; Indian cement absorbs heat and radiates it for hours
  • Never leave Shiro in a parked car, not even for a minute (we've seen how fast it spikes)
  • Humidity warning: High humidity makes heat stroke common even if it's not 'peak' sun
SAFETY

Home Cleanup

  • Brush extra loose fur (Helping air circulate through the double coat makes a massive difference)
  • Cool-wash: A quick water-only rinse on the paws after hot walks to lower body temp

Hydration Matters

Hydration: The Shiro Strategy

Ice-cubes in the bowl (Shiro thinks it's a great cooling game)

Cool curd rice: The classic Indian dog cooling meal that Shiro lives for

Coconut water (Natural electrolytes for those midday slumps)
