Life with Shiro

Shiro's First Beach Day

Sand in the ears, salt in the fur, and the cleaning routine we weren't prepared for.

We thought the beach would be relaxing. Shiro thought the beach was a giant bowl of salt-flavored soup.

Our first trip to Alibaug taught us two things: Golden Retrievers love waves, and wet sand is basically dog-safe concrete. We spent three hours cleaning him afterward but realized that with the right 'rinse-first' strategy, it doesn't have to be a nightmare. Now, we carry a portable pressure rinser in the car. It handles the salt and sand before it can dry into his undercoat, keeping the car (mostly) clean for the drive home.

The Shiro Solution

What actually worked

  • A portable 5-liter pressure rinser and a silicone paw-scrubbing cup.
