Shiro's First Trip to the River

Sand in the ears, river water in the fur, and the cleaning routine we weren't prepared for.

We thought the riverbank would be relaxing. Shiro thought the Ganges was a giant bowl of running soup.

Our first trip to Rishikesh taught us two things: Golden Retrievers love current, and wet sand is basically dog-safe concrete. We spent three hours cleaning him afterward but realized that with the right 'rinse-first' strategy, it doesn't have to be a nightmare. Now, we carry a portable pressure rinser in the car. It handles the silt and sand before it can dry into his undercoat, keeping the car (mostly) clean for the drive home.

The Shiro Solution

What actually worked

  • A portable 5-liter pressure rinser and a silicone paw-scrubbing cup.
